Pause
Stop your hands and your feet. Do not improvise with an unfamiliar material, tool, smell, sound, or spill.
Unit 02 · shared stop · 7th & 8th grade
Before we measure, heat, mix, build, or investigate, we learn how to protect ourselves, our classmates, and the evidence. The first move is not “try it.” The first move is pause, look, and ask.
Tap nothing. Notice everything.
The briefing · four moves
Safety is not a bravery test. It is a repeatable routine that keeps a small problem from becoming a big one.
Stop your hands and your feet. Do not improvise with an unfamiliar material, tool, smell, sound, or spill.
Use the required protective equipment and give the hazard space. Keep hair, sleeves, bags, food, and phones out of the work zone.
Tell the teacher or supervising adult what happened, plainly and immediately. Questions are data, not trouble.
Follow the adult’s directions for cleanup, first aid, evacuation, or disposal. Never hide a mistake to protect a grade.
Watch · Khan Academy candidate
This is the selected middle-school candidate. It opens as a supplement; the teacher’s directions and the official contract remain the authority.
Cards · vocabulary
Flip the cards. The deck stays in this browser only; it does not record a grade or create an account.
Read · Eleo explains
A short companion article turns the rules into decisions you can make under pressure.
Investigate · scenario cards
Choose a situation. The safe answer starts with stopping the action, creating space, and telling the supervising adult.
Practice · math + teacher assessment
Use the print sheet to practice unit conversions, averages, and reading a simple safety-check data table. Your teacher’s existing safety assessment comes after the briefing; this page stores no results.
Metric conversions, mean and median, a response-time table, and a graph-reading check.
